New Year’s Day, Vermont, 2024.
Frosted mountain tops with fresh snow always feel special. Even more so in Vermont. The frosted tips in this video remind me more of Colorado and mountains out west than here. Yet, this same day last year graced us. New Year’s Day, 2024, in southern Vermont was a beautiful winter day. Cold, but refreshing with the sun shining through. Enjoy a meditative look back on last year’s New Year’s Day beauty.
Choosing a song or audio for these videos is tricky. Often they work better accompanied by silence (check the longer Silence Is Golden cut on our YouTube page and let me know which one you prefer). Flipping through our records, Stan Getz and The Oscar Peterson Trio jumped out at me. At around 10 minutes, Ballad Medley was a good length and the mood clicked immediately. Even the song titles speak to conflicting ball of feelings going into 2025. The medley consists of

Is it too spot on?
We are all bewitched, bothered and bewildered by something right now. Some curse seems to be holding us hostage in this modern age. Or, more likely, many curses.
I don’t know why, I just do. What else needs to be said about that one? We all know the feeling. Sometimes you just do and you can’t explain why.
How long has this been going on? I want to know. Or maybe, I don’t. Once you start chasing this, the rabbit hole never has a bottom. Humanity has been repeating its same mistakes for eons.
“I can’t get started.” Yup, I know the feeling. Since, the world shut down for covid and “reopened”, it’s been hard to get back into the swing of things. Life is different now.
The Ballad Medley certainly brings plenty to ponder when you dive in. It turned out to be a perfect companion to our first video postcard, guiding us into a relaxing moment to ring in the new year, with plenty to ponder.
It all leads me back to one resolution for 2025, stop scrolling and start relaxing.
With that in mind, here’s a peaceful view to ease us into the year.
As for the polka dots and moonbeams? Exactly what we all need. May the moonbeams shine through and the polka dots bring us joy in 2025.
